About
Grace Corsi is curious about the world and her place within it. Her music explores past selves, nature and cities, and the joy, wonder, and angst of being alive. Born and raised in verdant Seattle, Grace developed a connection with nature that grounds her two passions: music and urban planning. Whether she’s composing a string arrangement or developing a climate action plan, Grace aspires to tell compelling stories, build community, and spark positive change.
Now based in Los Angeles, Grace is a multi-talented storyteller: a vocalist, songwriter, and composer. A recipient of ASCAP’s Herb Alpert Young Composer Award and the Phoebe Jacobs Prize, Grace has earned acclaim for her contemplative and innovative compositional style. Drawing from versatile luminaries like Joni Mitchell and Madison Cunningham, her music stretches across genres, fusing jazz harmony, folk melodies, nature imagery, and unapologetic lyrics.
Simultaneously, Grace completed her GeoDesign studies, which incorporated architecture, urban planning, public policy, GIS, and economics to address urban issues. Her work addresses sustainability and social equity in cities, using spatial data as a tool to bring stakeholders to the table, understand impacts, and weave nature into the built environment.
Grace has performed at venues in Seattle, New York and Amsterdam including the Blue Whale, Catalinas, the Amsterdam Blue Note and Carnegie Hall, and performs regularly around Los Angeles. She has studied under LA-based musicians Kathleen Grace, Sara Gazarek, Patrice Rushen, and Vince Mendoza among others.
She is also a Planning Leader at integrated design firm DLR Group, where she has worked for the last 4 years. Her most notable projects include Austin ISD’s Long-range Plan, the Green New Deal for Boston Public Schools Design Study, and CSU Long Beach’s Campus Sustainability Plan.
Grace continues to explore how her passions intersect. She uses her creative problem solving skills to challenge musical boundaries, question traditional planning paradigms, and bridge artistic divides.
Grace is approaching the release of her debut album, Downriver, which will be released March 2024.
