Childhood Refrain

“Childhood Refrain” is an autobiographical song about reconnecting to childhood joy and wonder. Grace found this wonder through nature, inspiring fusion of natural imagery into the song. A duo setting allows Grace and Teis (guitar) the freedom to explore their own joy. The song is part of a larger project that investigates our conflicting relationships with the natural environment.

Featuring Teis Semey on guitar.

STRING QUARTET

Hold My Breath

“Hold My Breath” investigates the challenges of maintaining inner peace, and the frustrations that come with losing it. Under the tutelage of grammy winning composer Vince Mendoza, Grace crafted this string arrangement to bring to life the song’s emotional turmoil. She performed the song as part of her senior capstone project at USC.

Cowritten with vocalist Alex Mountsier.

FOLK

Long Gone

Through humanizing vignettes, “Long Gone” paints a picture of a little town and the dangers of complacency. With folk harmonies, simple acoustic guitar and piano, and a Sufjan Stevens-esque trumpet feature, the song pays homage to Grace’s folk singer-songwriter roots.

Cowritten with Los Angeles based songwriter Jack DeMeo

JAZZ

Say That You Love Me

“Say That You Love Me” is about learning to accept love and believe that you deserve it. In her music, Grace strives for emotional vulnerability, honesty, and giving voice to things that are difficult to say. The song’s intimate solos, full string arrangement, and voice-bass feature add to this atmosphere.

Cowritten with Los Angeles based bassist Max Kraus.
